Plastic comb binding is different from the other three mechanical binding styles because the spine can be imprinted by either foil stamping or screen printing. If this requirement is important to you, plastic comb binding should be your mechanical binding choice.
However, plastic comb binding doesn’t open 360° and isn’t a good choice for books that need to be held in one hand. Although plastic comb binding is useful for very thick books and doesn’t have a stepping-up problem, many designers think that plastic comb elements have a dated look, resulting in the product’s declining popularity. Like plastic coil, plastic comb binding elements can either lose shape or crack under extreme temperature conditions.
The E&M Plastic Coil Binding Advantage:
- Two high-speed machines
- Thin, thick, under or oversized books
- Semi-concealed binding
- Fully concealed binding
- Many colors available.
