Calendar season is almost here!
Yes, calendar planning season is almost upon us. If you want to make your calendars look and hang a little differently, consider Wire-O binding. This attractive binding style offers many great-looking options for calendars. For example, skip binding produces two separate banks of loops, giving calendars a sleek, modern look. A wire hanger provides a sturdy way to hang calendars and prevent them from curling. Wire-O is also a great binding option for calendars that include posters. Of course, we saddle stitch, plastic coil, and spiral wire-bind calendars as well. Give us a call to see how we can help plan your 2003 calendars.
DOING IT ALL IN-LINE
When customers involve us early in a project’s design process, we have a good chance of coming up with a solution that automates as much of the production as possible. Here’s an example: A customer came to us with a large run of self-mailers. With a short turnaround time and tight budget, they asked us to come up with a solution that would automate as many functions as possible. Using a three-up layout, we were able to score, perf in two directions, slit, fold and fugitive glue the piece in one pass, ready to be mailed. The results were a considerable cost savings, on-time delivery, a great looking piece – and a very happy customer.
PUR PAGE-PULL STRENGTH PASSES THE TEST
A recent project allowed us the opportunity to test the strength of a PUR adhesive against a regular binding glue. The 8.5”x11” book had a spine width of 5/16”, and UV coating on the text and cover stock. Running on our new Muller Martini perfect binder, the PUR-bound books yielded page-pull test results of 60-70 lbs. per square inch. By comparison, the same books bound with regular adhesive resulted in only 40-50 lbs. of page-pull strength.
