Plan properly for foldout covers
Perfect bound projects that include crossover images or text on foldout covers - such as annual reports - must be planned very carefully. Place your crossover images 3/16" from the spine edge to ensure they don't get lost in the gutter. Also, be sure to keep a 1/8” spine grind-off area free from ink, varnish, or coatings.

Foldouts should typically be undersized by 1/8" so the fold meets up perfectly with the rest of the book block after grind-off. This isn’t always necessary, however. With a double pass through one of our perfect binding machines, this 1/8” gap can be eliminated. First, the text block is bound and face trimmed. The cover is then applied and the project is head and foot trimmed, resulting in a foldout cover perfectly flush with the face.
To achieve optimum results on jobs with foldout covers, let E&M Bindery handle all of your folding needs.
Eurobinding comes to E&M
E&M Bindery has just added a sleek new binding solution that's a just a little outside the ordinary. Eurobinding, also known as Swiss brochure, has the look and durability of perfect binding, but with a few differences. The front cover detaches from the book block for a layflat appearance, while the rear cover is attached with side-mounted glue.
Some of the ideal applications for Eurobinding include annual reports, desk calendar pads, postcard books, and many more. Give us a call to find out more about this exciting new binding style.
See the New jersey Devils on us!
Do you like hockey? Well, E&M Bindery wants to give you four tickets to see the New Jersey Devils battle the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday, February 10. However, we're going to make you work for them a little. Be the first to call or fax the correct answer to this trivia question, and the tickets are yours:
The Devils moved to New Jersey in 1982 from another city. What was the name of the franchise before it moved?
Good luck!
