E & M BINDERY IS EXPANDING FOR YOU
Clifton, NJ - E & M Bindery is proud to announce that it has increased the size of its plant 12% with the recent acquisition of 6,000 sq. ft. of additional manufacturing space, which brings us to a total of 58,000 ft. This allows the company’s new 12,000/hr. Muller Martini Norm Adhesive Binder (scheduled to arrive in late September) to be placed next to E & M’s other high speed perfect binder. This side-by-side manufacturing layout will create production efficiencies and help the company turnaround jobs even faster.
In addition to the new perfect binder, the extra space will house the company’s new Rollem TR-42 rotary scoring and perforating system, due to be installed later this month.
NOTCH-PERFECT BINDING
Q: What adhesive binding method should be used to bind books printed on enamel stock? What if they also have ink, varnish, aqueous and other coatings bleeding into the gutter?
A: In cases like these, traditional perfect binding usually is too risky. Choose either PUR binding (coming soon to E & M) or notch-perfect binding. Real notch binding involves removing “notches” from signature spines as they’re being folded. Then, the grinding wheel is removed from the perfect binder and books are bound by forcing glue up the notches. This results in extra strong books because BOTH PAPER STRENGTH AND GLUE are used to secure every page.
Note: When introducing notch binding to your customers, mention that if users break the spine, they may see a minor “zipper” effect caused from glue peeking through notches.
